11th EWDA Conference in Edinburgh, 24-29 August 2014

The next EWDA Conference will be held in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland. It will be hosted by The University of Edinburgh, with the host organising committee led by Professor Anna Meredith of the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. The host committee also includes Professor Michael Hutchings, Head of Disease Systems at SRUC (Scotland's Rural College) and Dr Elizabeth Mullineaux MRCVS.

Questionnaires on population data and samples

One part of the APHAEA project consists in testing the proposed harmonized protocols and demonstrating the advantages of harmonization. For this purpose, three host-pathogen combinations have been selected:

Wild boar (Sus scrofa) and Aujeszky's disease virus (Pseudorabies)
Red fox (Vulpes vulpes) and Echinococcus multilocularis (Fox tapeworm)
Common vole (Microtus arvalis) and Francisella tularensis (Tularemia)
